Frequently Asked Questions

What is Homecoming?

This signature fall weekend combines elements of Alumni & Family Weekend (previously held in February), New Student Family Weekend, and St. Dominic Weekend. Featured events are designed to engage students and their families, welcome alumni and friends back to Friartown, and honor the college’s most generous donors. This is a great opportunity for visitors to experience the ongoing transformation of PC’s campus in the comfort and beauty of a New England fall.

When is Homecoming?

Homecoming 2024 is the weekend of October 18-20. Alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff, friends, and fans — if you consider yourself a member of the Friar family, we hope you will join the celebration on campus.

What are some of the events planned?

You can look forward to a full schedule of events and activities including the Friar 5K, Friar Fest, Late Night Madness featuring Zac Brown Band, athletic competitions, and more.

Where should I park?

Campus will be busy with activity for the weekend. Guests are encouraged to enter campus through the Huxley Avenue gate (accessible via Admiral Street). The GPS address for this entrance is 212 Huxley Ave. Please see Campus Parking, Satellite Parking, and Shuttle Information above for availability.

Is the RIPTA available for Homecoming transportation?

Ride the RIPTA for free! Just like our PC students can ride the RIPTA for free, Homecoming attendees can, too. Pick up your pass at the front desk of your downtown hotel. Walk to Kennedy Plaza and take the 55 bus route to campus. Download the Transit app today, plan your trip, and track your bus in real time.

I am running the Friar 5K. Will I have a place to shower and change on campus?

Yes! Show your bib at the welcome desk of the Concannon Fitness Center and you will be able to access the men’s and women’s locker rooms. Towels and toiletries are not provided.

I saw Late Night Madness on the schedule. Is this event open to alumni, parents, and families?

Yes! As alumni, parents, and family members of PC, you are eligible for entry to Late Night Madness. Tickets through the Providence College Ticket Office are sold out, but you are able to purchase tickets through our partners on SeatGeek.

About Late Night Madness

Kick off basketball season with an AMP’d-up night at the Amica Mutual Pavilion! With student acts and a kickoff celebration for our men’s and women’s basketball teams, this year’s event features a performance by Zac Brown Band.

About Zac Brown Band

Zac Brown Band is a multi-platinum, GRAMMY ® Award-winning Southern rock group led by front man Zac Brown. Throughout their career spanning more than a decade, Zac Brown Band has had six consecutive albums reach the top 10 of the Billboard 200 and five consecutive albums debut at #1 on Billboard’s Country Albums chart. To date, the group has won three GRAMMY ® Awards, including Best New Artist in 2010, sold more than 30.5 million singles, 9.3 million albums, amassed over 11.2 billion catalog streams, achieved 16 #1 radio singles and are the second act to top both the Country and Active Rock formats. Zac Brown Band has headlined nine North American Tours and currently holds the record for most consecutive sold-out shows at the iconic Fenway Park. Symbolic of their massive success at the ballpark, in July 2022, Zac Brown Band was inducted into the Fenway Music Hall of Fame, joining music icons Paul McCartney and Billy Joel. Since their debut, Zac Brown Band has developed a reputation with critics and fans alike as one of the most dynamic live performers, marked by strong musicianship that defies genre boundaries.
